A year and a half ago, Yellowstone gave audiences a huge shock. In case you needed a reminder: Season 5 ended prematurely.
Kevin Costner finally shares his full side of the 'Yellowstone' story
The delay was reportedly due to a feud between lead Kevin Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan. No more episodes would be shot.
Meanwhile, Costner claims that Paramount wanted to amend their contracts when Sheridan took too long to write the next Yellowstone script. It's been a mess.
Although Costner has addressed this particular Yellowstone play before, the actor actually mentioned it in a new interview with Deadline. He said he had been cheated.
I gave Yellowstone first priority, and to say anything would be wrong...they were tap dancing and the poor guy had to write a lot. And I don't know why they didn't support me."
Yellowstone was given just one week to film - and threatened to sue over contract disputes. Costner claims Paramount cheated him.
Paramount has promised to finally finish Yellowstone — whether Costner returns or not — by November 2024, when the studio plans to debut a new Yellowstone sequel/spinoff.
That roadmap was enough to satisfy anxious fans at the time, but we've seen little or no progress towards achieving that goal.
Costner also said that Sheridan was too busy working at Paramount, which is why he was left unscripted for the last half of Yellowstone season 5.
